Following the launch of the Gran Turismo DD Extreme bundle last month, Fanatec is back with another variation on a similar theme.

The Fanatec ClubSport Racing Wheel F1, to give it its full title, is a new wheel and wheel base bundle.

Fanatec ClubSport Racing Wheel F1 2024

Much like the GT set, it includes the ClubSport DD+ wheel base – that means 15Nm of peak direct drive torque, the ability for game developers to utilise FullForce immersive vibrations plus PC and PlayStation 4/5 compatibility.

This is paired with an updated ClubSport Formula wheel, which visually looks similar to the existing Formula V2.5 and Formula V2.5 X devices. However, it features PlayStation-specific buttons for the main console menu, creation and options.

The main faceplate of the wheel is finished in a blue forged carbon, unique to this model. Below the OLED display for gears, LED rev strip and flag lights, you will find a Formula 1 logo.

Fanatec ClubSport Racing Wheel F1. F1 Sim Racing

Interestingly, Fanatec claims that this set-up is ‘designed for F1 Sim Racing’, the absent official F1 esports competition. We presume then that this is the combination in use when the in-person races return.

Elsewhere, there are the usual (two) 12-way multi-position switches, two thumb encoders, 11 buttons, two toggle switches and two aluminium magnetic gear shift paddles. The QR2 wheel-side quick release is preinstalled.

“…By far the best console racing experience I have ever had,” said Michel in our DD+ review earlier this year.

“The presence of more force [compared to the DD Pro] helps to create muscle memory, and this is a crucial element for consistent racing.”

At the time of writing, like the recent Gran Turismo wheel, the revised F1 wheel is not alone as a standalone product. The bundle excludes pedals.

Fanatec ClubSport Racing Wheel F1 cockpit

The Fanatec ClubSport Racing Wheel F1 is available to order from today, 6th March 2024, with shipping currently estimated at between four and seven days presently.

It is priced at $/€1,299.96, the same price as the aforementioned Gran Turismo DD Extreme set. Still no word on when the F1-branded cockpit by Fanatec will be released, first previewed back in 2022…

Which would you prefer? The Gran Turismo package, or Formula 1? Let us know in the comments below.

Bargain! A wheel that cost nearly 3 times the price of the console I'm playing on! Now that's great value for money..
Products from companies like Fanatec have NEVER slotted into a BARGAIN category. They and other companies provide solid, long lasting, quality hardware that provides force feedback at levels never dreamed of a few years ago.
(thinking irony: complaining about lack of a bargain while gaming on a console that probably cost 3-5 times previous iterations.)

I always a bit surprised people are willing to spend this much money on kit. I wonder how many of them actually get sold compared to cheaper options? I assume they use the high end kit to attract people in who then go on to buy cheaper stuff.

There's just so much really, really expensive sim gear out there, it's crazy how much money you can spend.

I have the Fanatec CSW 2.5 and my upgrade option is moving to DD, but it's not looking all that appealing at the moment, I think I'll wait for my current base to fail. Moving to tht new mount kind of annoyed me because now I'm going to have to buy new mounts to get my current wheels working.

The grips on this like the MOZA GS wheel are so bad. Dont feel good in hand even with real leather material from pineapple grips. Better to have some good molded rubber grips like gt neo, cube control, gsi wheels. The cheap mclaren gt wheel feels even better in hand.

So yet another version of this wheel, why can’t they develop a 300mm GT version of it to compete with the Simagic GT Neo.
Amen. I got tired of waiting on them and pieced together a 300'ish mm package with the podium hub, podium paddles, rally module and R305 from turn racing. Turned out better than expected, but Fanatec really needs to expand/refresh their wheel packages and most certainly their severely surpassed lines of pedals. They've got 3 variations of each of the same 3 or 4 basic rim designs and the occasional outlier like the $1,400 BMW GT3 package. As cool as it is to have 1:1 clones, it's not rocket science to create a 300mm GT focused package that comes in somewhere in the $500-$1,000 range. I'd probably be even more frustrated if I didn't exclusively drive in VR and desired a rim with a display/MFD on it. End up having to buy an emulator insert to spoof the base and then still rely on USB or bluetooth for comms/function.

agree, the only downside (and a huge one) of the F1 style Fanatec wheels is that they are lacking 2cm in diameter to properly feel good. And yeah its essentially 4x the same wheel just reskinned
i had the Formula V2.5 for 6 months and got the Moza GS Wheel later, its so much better to use.

I”ve got the Simagic GT Neo on the way with the Maglink and a SRM Fanatec Emulater, taken the QR off of my Formula V2. Should be here by the weekend with any luck.

This could be interesting a way to widen you Formula V 2.x

My Thrustmaster TS-PC wheel had the Alcantra grips and for the first month I had to wear gloves to keep my hands from turning green. (Not sure why green, the grips were black.)

They have it, it's the McLaren GT3 rim. What they should is update that thing.
The Mclaren rim is CSL rather than Clubsport level. Fair enough they update it but it would need a bunch of upgrades as well. It doesn’t have any thumb encoders, the shifter is on a rocker with no option to put the advanced paddle module on and I think it only comes with the plastic QR as standard so you can’t do full torque without an upgrade.

The formula wheel has all the functionality it's just too small for a lot of people. The Mclaren wheel has always been good for the price point but I think quite a few people would like a Clubsport level modern GT Wheel. And if the do do it at least some basic backlighting on the buttons.

One of life's great mysteries . Looking at the site the wheel widening kit isn’t exactly cheap and has a bunch of extra addons to make the thumb encoders and paddles work better once it”s fitted

oh cmon they became a 1 stop shop for sim racing products mid range at best took over from Logitech. Never had a problem with my fanatec gear i did own, but would never go back everything they produce is planned obsolescence.
