With the LMH/LMDh era drawing renewed interest in to top-class sportscar racing, we recently wondered why there were so few representations of the cars in sim racing. An iRacing video teaser on Twitter now implies that the BMW M Hybrid V8 will face in-class competition soon - including a big, loud V8 engine.

It had already been confirmed that more GTP cars, as they are called in IMSA while the LMDh moniker is used in WEC, would be coming: iRacing Vice President Steve Myers replied to a tweet that asked about competition for the BMW prototype via quote without specifying what other cars would be coming - the latest teaser strongly hints at the Cadillac V-Series.R.
The vehicle itself is not shown while racing around the Detroit Belle Isle street circuit, but the characteristic V8 growl and the speed at which the car is lapping strongly hint at an LMDh. Additionally, choosing Detroit as the venue for the teaser likely is not a coincidence, as Cadillac has its headquarters in the Michigan metropolis where it was founded in 1902.
Adding more fuel to the speculation is a comment from Renger van der Zande: The Dutchman, who races the V-Series.R in IMSA alongside former F1 driver and four-time ChampCar champion Sébastien Bourdais as well as six-time IndyCar champion and 2008 Indianapolis 500 winner Scott Dixon, stated that "iracing is pretty close" when asked about the possibility of the car being added to the service.
