Rennsport Teases Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) Release for January 6

Rennsport_Porsche992_Teaser.jpg
Rennsport, the upcoming German racing simulator, is getting ready for the beta release. Before that, alpha players will get the opportunity to see a new Porsche, the 911 GT3 R (992).

After rFactor 2 already released its Porsche 992 DLC for Christmas, Rennsport will therefore be the next developer to include a car from the 992 series in its roster.

This new Porsche is the continuation of the "world's best-selling race car", the 911. Following the footsteps of the 991, this seventh-generation 911 aims to keep up the tradition of generating sporting success for Porsche.

Immediate Rennsport Future

With this inclusion, existing alpha players will be able to race the new Porsche around Hockenheimring. However, how does the beta timeline look?

According to the most recent Discord QnA, the closed beta has been delayed to early 2023. We should be getting news of the exact dates soon.

Until then, what do you think of this inclusion to the Rennsport roster? Let us know in the comments down below!

I am really exited for this new sim.
For us simracers competition between good sims is a win since they all will push each other to a better product in the end.
I also like the idea of focussing on only a small selection of content in the beginning and do it properly rather than have 100 cars from which some are gread and some not.
However, I am concerned about the VR implementation and performance since my experience from UE4 in ACC really isnt that great. Fingers crossed they find a solution and the next generations of hardware will bring benefit to that issue as well.

In general I have to say I really dont understand why some people are so negative right now. We all should be existed for a new contender.
At the moment every sim has its strengths and weaknesses and maybe some day a developer is able to combine the strengths and eliminate the weaknesses. Lets stay positive :)

Wait, they sell vanilla ice cream? WE must sell vanilla ice cream! We can only sell vanilla!!!

GT3 has been done, no one wants another GT3 game. Just don't do GT cars, pick anything else! LMP would be a better choice, it could dominate the class.

But no, we're going to get GT3. Imagine looking forward to GT3 games with all the same cars and not one of them the same as the others.

I do. But not this.
Ideally I'd like something like WRC Generations, but done right. A game that includes all the cars and tracks sorted by years ever since GT3 first appeared - in 2005, as the underdog compared to GT1 and GT2, until today, where it takes over everything (GT1 used pretty much GT3 cars in its final season, GTE (GT2) is being replaced by GT3, DTM also became GT3). And to be a good game, not something half assed like the F1 or WRC series.

It Looks Beautiful

Anyone here an alpha tester? Please give us a hint of what this game is all about and how it is different than any current car racing games?
Just pm me so I can let everyone know :whistling:

I tend to agree but my concern is that the developpers have a tendency to rush their games, which then come out with broken features, because they lack cash or because they want to be in the place before the others. I don't have any idea about the quality of Rennsport but it may be on the right way, developping and testing before coming out ; we'll see how that's going to be.

I personnally haven't a real issue with games coming out in poor state if the devs have a solid experience, but it's not the case of all developpers and many early players judge the game at first impressions, and this basically can damage the game's reputation, and the developper's one, for a long time.

There is something wrong there, between the indies and the big publishers. The costs of developping a new game are so high that, without a strong publisher, any indie has to rush the game and face difficult times and a huge risk of failure.

ACC had at least 2 years of awful reviews, AMS2 too, let's see what will happen to Rennsport.

There is an indie sim which made the things in a total different way and which have been making its way for years and is now at the beginning of something heavy, BeamNG. It started as a tech demo to simulate crashes, a fun "little" game, without any false promise. It now is a solid dirt sim with nice graphics. It is still in development and it doesn't advertise anything huge, just step by step, and it got great reviews and a big community (with a huge internal workshop). It lacks many features to be a big player, but it isn't advertised as one, so nobody care and all the users enjoy the content they paid for, because what they paid for is tremendous and unmatched.

It's an opposite strategy, focusing on a small perimeter, polishing it, increasing the perimiter when the first one is solid... the price is low, the players get much more than they could expect, the buzz is there, communication doesn't cost a lot, sales go on, developpment goes on, features go on, it's a nice business circle. For sure, the studio did not have the pressure developpers like Kunos or Reiza have, that's the difference. But I think there is a lesson to learn there. And I'm sure in between 5 and 10 years, this BeamNG engine will be something huge on the market. And it may be the time for sim developpers to make partnerships with BeamNG, or at least study it

As Kazunori Yamauchi said he wants sim racing to be accessible for everyone. i'm 100% on this.

Hopefully this game is like Raceroom (correct me if i'm wrong but a few of RRE dev's etc are working for them)

We found it, Rennsport's greatest (only) soldier. Godspeed on your defense of the racing game ever made thus far.

I'll admit I haven't faced people same as sharp as you to un-cover my missions before.

Believe me, I have a great CV. I have worked for secret intellegence in North Korea before.

But congratulations! You exposed me and all the other 30 AI bots who liked the comment.

I see that the season of goodwill is now in the rearview mirror.
So before this gets out of hand can we have less salt and more topic please.

I’m going to stay completely on topic “This is ALL about Rennsport”

The reason I have and will never have any interest in Rennsport is due to it’s payment model. This is a subscription based payment model, that will include NFT’s. I love all sim racing, and all sorts of different cars. I have enjoyed reading all the comments provided by RaceDepartment’s subscribers, with the exception of the odd troll.... next comment.... that was easy. The reason that I don’t agree with subscription based products, is they are just rentals that can be shut off with the flick of a switch. That’s right.... perhaps they don’t like a comment that you wrote in a blog... all of a sudden you cannot log in.... Your account is a digital subscription that can be toggled off at their will.

This is why I have no issues with DLC’s. I purchase a simulator as it’s base model, and I purchase whatever DLC’s that interest me..... and it’s mine to use however I wish.

1 – 2 years from now all of my fellow sim racers will understand this. The likes of Rennsport will rule as all of the private companies that build games will be squeezed out due to their carbon footprint and social scores. I can imagine Rennsport in the Metaverse, as they can afford a virtual $200.000.00 property in this virtual prison of garbage.

I have been reading the comments for almost 4 years on RaceDepartment and have appreciated almost all of them. I created an account just before the holiday season and made my first comment, that was deleted and then I was banned for a day or two...

I hope this survives as I mean no harm, and I welcome comments that I may not agree with...

My 2 cents on Rennsport

Cheers, and stay safe.

I didn't know it was a subscription model. But you know that you don't own at all your games in steam? It is just a one time subscription fee. If Steam is shut down, you lose everything in theory. Maybe if that day comes the publishers will release offline parches to get our games to work without steam, but maybe not. The same for other platforms except gog which sells you a game that you really digitally own.
