Alfa Romeo Considering Schumacher for In-Season F1 Test

Mick Schumacher could find himself with some seat time at the Alfa Romeo Racing squad this year, with the Italian outfit considering the young German for the in-season Bahrain test.

Schumacher, 2018 European Formula Three champion, signed a contract with the Ferrari Driver Academy for the coming season, and due to the close links between the Scuderia and Alfa Romeo, the possibility of Schumacher making a test debut with the team remains on the agenda for the in-season Bahrain test scheduled to run immediately after the Grand Prix weekend.

With current rules dictating that teams have to run drivers who have competed in two or fewer Grands Prix during two of the four days, it is thought that the 19-year-old is in a strong position to experience seat time in a contemporary Grand Prix car for the very first time.

Should Schumacher Jr. be handed a chance with the former Sauber outfit, it would mark the first occasion that the son of legendary seven time World Champion Michael has driven a modern Formula One machine - and puts the talented driver one step closer towards his goal of competing at the top level of open wheel motorsport in the future.

Sounds about right although I think you need to shift everything up one year because I think it'll take Mick a year to get used to F2 and because Kimi has a 2 year contract with Alfa.

Remarkable what a name can do when it comes to opportunity.

It is not just the name which is an advantage.Being brought up in a racing family means you have a lot more opportunity to know how to succeed in motorsport.Someone like Harrison Newey (son of Adrian Newey)who is a good sports car racer in LMP2 would know all about the culture of racing from a young age.

These cultures & advantages also exist in many other professions.

A name only gets you so far.More oportunities for sure but there are way more drivers like Alex Brundle,Paul Stewart & Kerry Earnhardt that did not make it to the top rung than Damon Hill,J Villeneuve or Kyle Petty.

The only person stopping Dan Ticktum getting the F1 Torro Rosso seat was Dan Ticktum.He must regret that horrible mistake at Silverstone & the racing ban so badly.
