Braking in the Escort

Keith Gregg

CAUTION - SLOW VEHICLE
Whilst practicing at Imola I've noticed my Escort starts to pull to the left under heavy braking after a few laps...Its probably my bad setup but any ideas what could cause this or what settings I need to be looking at to counter act this?
Any help appreciated
Cheers

Do a few laps, look at the tyre temperatures and specifically the pressures.
Example front right tyre pressure 26 psi. Front left presure is 24 psi.
Back to pits, then leave front right at original pressure
Adjust front left by +2psi.
Some circuits create varible front right and left pressures other circuits cause a more static front
and left tyre pressure, in that case it is up to you to decide on a compromise.
Maybe you are having trouble braking at the end of one specific straight, so varie left by an amount
that gives the same pressure both left and right at the end of that staight.

The rear pressures also affect stability, so repeat with rear tyres.

The escort is a difficult car to get right.

Thanks lads...I will do some more laps today but I think that the front right is definately getting hotter than the left but it just seems to be in the 3 places where I heavy brake...I use the gears too to slow...its ok for the first few laps so its definately my dodgy tyre setup lol...many thanks Ernie for the detailed reply.
