Gamepad / D-Pad steering

Hello,
I use the gamepad Xbox One Elite ( pc ) and i'd like to have the D-pad for steering, and Y / A ( for acceleration - throttle and brake )
Why isn't that possible, at all ? I know it's recommended to use the left stick , but i can't and i don't like it
Could i make it work, somehow, with some software like Xpadder ?
Any advices are welcome, thank you

Hello, download joytokey free program. Change d pad to any keyboard keys.

Enable combine with keyboard keys in the advanced tab of the control options.

Done.

the last free version of xpadder can do that too! Just check "combine with keyboard input" as stated above and bind the d pad to a key.

please just learn to drive with the sticks and triggers as throttle and brakes,
this is a sim, you will not have fun with the dpad and y/a as braking
firstly you cant controll throttle and brakes without abs or tcr and with the steering you will be considerably slower
i know that because i am a fellow paduser
