referring to the 9th round of the season, which is the second-last race of the season. The 10th round is the last race and is the final.

Semifinals refer to a situation where there are two matches in that round, with the winners then playing off in a final.
It doesn't apply in a seasonal aspect, right idea, not quite right usage.

After a 2-year tie-up with Telefonica Minardi as sponsors for the team, DTK-MS Racing have announced a new partnership with Bentley Motors for season 6. The drivers Jimmy Laad and Manolis Sigoulakis will stay again with an Audi and Yokohama tyres.
