Mr Reiche can you give us a roadbook, a manual how to include or change custom skins into pc2?
All this threads confuse me in a way I'm not a file specialist - thx.
Come over to the Discord server, we have a tutorial with pictures by
@Tar Heel there.
Basically, you have to change two files and add the livery file itself and (not mandatory) a preview picture for the livery.
To prevent mixing up stuff, I suggest you add a new folder to MODS where you store your edited files.
1) So, create Project Cars 2/MODS/"Custom Liveries" folder.
2) Now you need to copy the two rcf files per car (per car you want to change) from MODS/Patch 6 files for rcf access/Vehicles/make_model, so let‘s say in case of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, it is MODS/Patch 6 files for rcf access/vehicles/Aston_Martin_Vantage_GT3 and the files would be aston_martin_vantage_gt3.rcf and aston_martin_vantage_gt3_hr.rcf
Now, create the needed folders and paste them into MODS/Custom Liveries/vehicles/aston_martin_vantage_gt3 in our example case.
3) Now, drop your livery dds files. Basically, you can paste them to every location in Project Cars 2 folder, but I highly suggest to place them in MODS/Custom liveries/vehicles/textures/customliveries/make/model/livery, so MODS/Custom liveries/vehicles/textures/customliveries/Aston Martin/Vantage GT3/
R Motorsport #62 and MODS/Custom liveries/vehicles/textures/customliveries/Aston Martin/Vantage GT3/R Motorsport #76 for example.
4) Now: editing our rcf files of step 2 (inside MODS/Custom liveries) (you can edit one and copy+paste the changes into the other).
Open the _hr file.
Have a look at it, there are different sections.
At the very top, you see <INPUTS> sections (ending with </INPUTS>: important for us is the line <INPUT NAME="LIVERY" OPTIONS=32>
below is <NAMES INPUT = "LIVERY"> section . Here are all liveries listed together with their unique ID number. Most important is <NAME LIVERY="99" NAME="Custom Livery" />
After this section, you'll see a block <CONDITION LIVERY="51"> ... </CONDITION> for every livery llisted above. Important, again, is <CONDITION LIVERY="99"> ... </CONDITION>
As we want to add 2 liveries, you need to copy both 99 line and 99 block two times and edit their numbers as well as the line <REPLACE TEXTURE="..." NEWTEXTURE="..." />
like below:
<NAME LIVERY="
97" NAME="
R Motorsport #62" />
<NAME LIVERY="
98" NAME="
R Motorsport #76" />
<NAME LIVERY="99" NAME="Custom Livery" />
and
<CONDITION LIVERY="
97">
((ignore other lines but of course copy them:
<REPLACE MATERIAL="vehicles\aston_martin_vantage_gt3\am_van_gt3_paint_carbon" NEWMATERIAL="vehicles\aston_martin_vantage_gt3\am_van_gt3_paint.mtx" />
<REPLACE MATERIAL="vehicles\aston_martin_vantage_gt3\am_van_gt3_paint_carbon_skin" NEWMATERIAL="vehicles\aston_martin_vantage_gt3\am_van_gt3_paint_cpit_skin.mtx" /> ))
<REPLACE TEXTURE=vehicles/ textures/common_paint.dds" NEWTEXTURE=vehicles/ textures/customliveries/
Aston_Martin/Vantage GT3/R Motorsport #62/aston_martin_vantage_gt3_livery.dds" />
</CONDITION>
<CONDITION LIVERY="
98"by
((ignore other lines but of course copy them))
<REPLACE TEXTURE=vehicles/ textures/common_paint.dds" NEWTEXTURE=vehicles/ textures/customliveries/
Aston_Martin/Vantage GT3/R Motorsport #76/aston_martin_vantage_gt3_livery.dds" />
</CONDITION>
<CONDITION LIVERY="99">
((ignore other lines but of course copy them))
<REPLACE TEXTURE=vehicles/ textures/common_paint.dds" NEWTEXTURE=vehicles/ textures/customliveries/aston_martin_vantage_gt3_livery.dds" />
</CONDITION>
As we added two livery ores, we now need to add 2 to the number in the first section, so we'll get
<INPUT NAME="LIVERY " OPTIONS="
34">
As this has now been done to the _hr.rcf file, you now need to copy+paste the changes made also to non-hr file aston_martin_vantage_gt3.rcf
Non-mandatory 5)
Download this archive containing the custom livery preview files for all the cars:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/1cy3ik75ggf8s80/GUIVEHICLEIMAGES_99.7z
Go through the folders to the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 file, copy it and paste it into MODS/Custom Liveries/gui/... (Same structure as in the unzipped archive). Rename it to ...
97, paste again and rename to ...
98
6) Activate "Patch 6 files for rcf access" (first) and "Custom Liveries" (second) via JSGME.
7) Done.
