Pitstop Penalty Pickle

Can anyone explain why in a GT4 season race when I go to complete my mandatory pitstop the stationary time can range from 30 seconds to over 1 minute for no apparent reason.

I must be doing something wrong but I can't work out what it is.

Any help will be much appreciated as this is driving me mad.

Damage repairs maybe?

Brakes can be a reason as well.
