F1 2012 Quick question regarding install on PC.

Hi guys my game arrived today in the mail. I purchased the disc.

Now do i have to download the whole game off Steam first before it will install the game ?

I would not have bothered with the disc if i knew that was the case.

I would imagine that you can install it directly using your DVD.
It shoud only authenthicate your copy using Steam when you want to play it.

That's my opinion, but give it a try.

I agree with you that it should install off the disc, but it's not playing nice.

If you are in the UK then the game will not activate until Thursday, in which case you are pre-loading the game which on Steam is only done via download even if you have the disc.

You should be able to do a disc install once the game has been released on steam.

Edit - I said UK but any region where the game is not out.

I would reckon that if you have the DVD game key, you can add it to your Steam account by running Steam > Games Menu > Activate a Product on Steam

Once it's added, you should be able to pre-load (download) the game on Steam, and it will be installed on Steam, played from Steam, and you no longer require the DVD.

I have done this before .....

It will unlock tonight @ around 1AM (Thursday morning) UK local
