Skinning Help!

Hello everyone.
i Have gotten into skinning (well, yesterday really) and i have slapped some bands onto the SuperV8 and tried to export it. i have saved it a DXT5 file or whatever it is called with 6 mipmaps and when replacing one of the cars in the official superv8 series, all i get is a blue car. the templates are the ones from RNR's VASC skins website, so would that make a difference if they are different resolutions??

@Rob Fitness @NWRAP have you got a solution???

work in progress in 3dsmax. how do i improve the resolution? in photoshop you can see that it is HD but not in 3dsmax
whats the go there?
