Telegram or Whatsapp

Seeing that most of my friends are addicted to Facebook Whatsapp and I refuse to back Facebook any longer when a company pays X-billion for a simple messenger service I moved away to Telegram.

What are you using?

Gmail. Not the instant messages (now its called hangout I think), the old simple email. I concentrate what I have to send and send it in a single shot. Unless it is too bothersome to do, which probably means is not that important so I don't send anything.

However, it baffles me how people having the free/open option every single time go and choose the commercial one that bites them back with spam, threats of payment, etc.
