Every word is true, and reminds me yet again of what rF2 could've become with another development team.
At the moment I spend most of my time driving in AMS2. After the years of frustration with rF2, it's a revalation: a well-designed UI, fast loading times AI that doesn't have a death wish, excellent graphics and VR performance, and driving physics and FF that get better with every update.
I still have rF2 installed, but I can imagine abandoning rF2 altogether some day soon if AMS2 continues to make the progress it has been making, and if S397 don't pull their finger out soon.
Since I started this thread in March there has been no word at all about what's going to happen now they've been bought out. It's not looking good.
If I may, no need to come online and make threats. AMS2 is a joke at this point, its not going to improve. Those guys are more swamped than florida. The people who promote it do nothing but pander and make excuses and lie about how 'amazing' it supposedly is. I was out somewhere once and we gave someone a mere 100 dollars. They went and put a very good word in for the business. Its amazing what people will do.
At this point some sims are just selling a lie to strangers on the internet; its not exactly the worst thing in the world to do, but its not ethical, and you will find their project is compromised in part not due to their own fault; but anyway I digress. I know you are not like that and you do not want anyone to get away with any thing and I commend you for it - thanks for the thread, too.
All you had to do was wait a little longer. Jumping up and down in frustration is not going to help. Usually such ultimatums are hollow as you do not really want to carry out the threat. Just treat it as a game you do laps in. If Rf2 is 100 then AMS2 is on a scale at about 4.
It doesn't matter what kind of logic and prudence and strategy you bring to the table - I know my own are very good - but it could be god-like - the guys just won't see it, they are on their own timers any way.
I may have once said though that AMS2 should indeed just focus on content, as having set a standard they can reliably go forward to all the low-standard takers (of which you are not one) and sell them lousy stuff. Fix it later, its not like phone apps are not unlike that, or any other title.
I saw it for what it was - but trust me when I say I am not seeing RF2 in that light - its a definite cut above. Its rather deliberate. And I have personally seen the high quality of the content. Do not listen to those narcissistic youtubers, you know who they are surely, they are the same people who will put dirt on Rf2, and in the next breath make a hyperbolic headline. Some have character flaws, some are clueless, but if you enjoy lapping in Rf2 then do it. Stop thinking it needs to replace real world driving and just enjoy it.
The reason I do not hold AMS2 to that standard is its incapable, and I have many hours in it, where RF2 is the best tire model in sim racing those tires feel like real tires and the s397 are selecting only the finest physically-capable they are able to do to put into cars. Its ok to drive AMS2 (when it works properly) and just enjoy it, as basic as it is, forget this SETA nonsense, its only so good, the RF2 (back in 2012) when PC's were looking to increase complexity and push boundaries, was the right method.
So it may seem hypocritical to say 'ignore the flag issue', but it is what it is, the UI was a bugbear thats different, but the driving in RF2 is top notch. Nothing comes close to it. I can see the ambition, to rival iRacing in that realm, but its also LUCKY its driving is so good, as rightly its buying a lot of time to probably one day meet in the center. If they can take the non modern sim-concept (which hopefully AC-2 holds to) and marry the old concept with the new concept then so be it, but I overlook a lot because there's no reason to allow things to stand in the way. The alternative is to do something foolish (such as myself, and this is the crunch part I DID THIS for several months lol)...and go to a lesser sim, like AMS2, just because of a bug.
Its not all its cracked up to be, since RF2 is clearly peak-sim. Its a 2012 concept, something the madness engine has no clue about. It began life as a super-hero movie game where you drove a truck iirc, not a sim. Rf2 has always had the heritage and it shows. More people play project cars 2 and that speaks volumes. I am different to my intentions because even if it doens't come good on all fronts, I will still think and know its driving is the best - since they do not make sims like RF2 any more, and raceroom was an entirely different beast, so hopefully Kunos can change that. Rf2 will still be at the head of the class though when it comes to driving, which is the point of the exercise of siming.
By nature race car driving is actually constrictive - so if its frustrating you, just go ask N Rosenberg, lol, or any of them, they have to do what the team says/said, its just how it is.
