Thrustmaster GTE Wheel (male Connector broke)

Hey,

i was about to buy a new Wheel DIY addon, since i'm not using the GTE Wheel.
My Problem is, the male part of the connector broke somehow. Do i really need the male pin (Picture between 5 and 6) ? or isn't it necessary since it looks like there isn't a wire or smth.

Is it not possible to plug it back into the GTE wheel and make sure it still works?
It seems to just be a plastic positioning pin & nothing more, but I suppose it could press a contact inside the base unit when you attach the wheel, but I'm not sure what it's purpose would be if that was the case.

AS morsify already said this pin is there to help you not to try to plug the connector the wrong way.
Just be careful in the future when you try to connect it again,to match the pins with the pinholes of the other part.

Exactly , without the plastic guide it's very easy to bend the pins if you are not extra careful. So it's something to keep in mind..
