Why do Save Files work weird?

For some reason when I load the savegame in GTR2 it skips the qualifying and may crash the game. How can this bug be fixed?

If you've not finished the qualifying session there is no "race" to save. (You should also let the qual session run out so the AI get their proper times, accelerate time if you don't want to wait but don't cut the session short.)

I routinely save at the beginning, middle, and end of practices and qualifyings. I don't recall noticing anything weird.

Do your issues happen on a vanilla install?
