Windows re-install

I'm curious as how it works to save your money and cars, if you re-install Windows. What action do you need to do, to keep them, so that after Windows re-install, all would still be there.

I have done just that in the past, and I remember I lost everything.

Found the below, there's basically two methods it looks. One is to make a backup yourself, and the other is a general Steam backup, for any given game. How to restore either is another thing, but I guess at least one should be enough.

1. C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Documents\My Games\wreckfest\76561198339*****

C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Wreckfest\76578456991651234

2. The Steam back-up files feature is working in this game.

It utilizes the in-game wizard to overwrite and replace the saved game. That would be easier, I would think.

Steam library>Wreckfest>Properties>Local files>Back up game files.

The most simple way to be sure that you can get everything back is to make a copy of these 2 folders of your racing game.
My example is Raceroom but most Steam games have similiar folder structure.
One folder in \Steam\steamapps\common\
and one in \My Documents\My Games\
So if you copy these 2 folders to as example a USB stick you can allways copy your custom files back after the Windows reinstall.

CatsAreTheWorstDogs: In my example the 2 paths are named like this:
\Steam\steamapps\common\raceroom racing experience
\My Documents\My Games\SimBin\RaceRoom Racing Experience

Always put Steam, sims and anything else you value on a partition other then C:\

If you think that partitioning your'e SSD will slow things down it won't and can actually improves the OS
not to have any "stuff" on it

Backup Documents and all relevant user/appdata, program data, start menus, etc.

Install Windows ( updates + DX + C++ )
Click on Steam icon in your primary Steam Folder ( the one you installed Steam to )
Steam will start and usually asks question " Repair" or "Ignore"
Click Repair Steam shuts and opens again on log in menu
Copy the archive you made back to C:\

Course to make a near perfect fresh OS archive takes much trial and error
After 100 OS installs you should be close :geek:

Going to re-installing Windows, I'll see what works

Sorry bit late

1. Make USB stick with W10 1909

2. Go offline

3. Run W10 setup

4. In the setup say no to everything you don't have internet, no, decline and untick the 7 features they suggest you start with

5. Install all drivers manually , check device manager before going online

6. Go online and update W10 ( I install the 4 quality updates manually )

NEW UPDATE 02.jpg

7. Run this C++ pack (MARCH 2020)

Good rule is to rename partitions ie: SYSTEM, STEAM#1, STEAM#2, BACKUP, MEDIA etc.
That way you will never accidentally delete wrong partition in W10 setup
For instance don't expect your C:\ drive is always DISK O
If you have both M2 and Sata the Sata will take DISK 0 and M2 DISK 1
If you have more then 1 of each have also been partitioned can mess up drive order further

Go into Disk Management and change drive letters
