Following a pause in new releases, RaceRoom Racing Experience will resume releasing fresh content before the end of March.

The long-awaited Circuit de Pau-Ville will become available for RaceRoom Racing Experience ‘next week’.

The venerated French street circuit, which has its roots as far back as 1933, was initially announced for an October 2023 release for the free-to-enter sim racing platform.

But plans changed. While a significant update in the form of a new tyre model was released in December, alongside the 2023 DTM pack which added real-world liveries and the Ferrari 296 GT3, Pau has been mysteriously missing.

That will change in a matter of days, however, as it will be part of an “upcoming content drop” according to the KW Studios-developed simulation.

Perhaps best known for holding the ‘Grand Prix de Pau’, across Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula 3000 and Formula 4 rulesets (among others), the event has been won by a vaunted list of drivers including Juan Manuel Fangio, Alberto Ascari, Jim Clark, Jack Brabham, Gil de Ferran, Juan Pablo Montoya Lewis Hamilton.

It is also etched into many more contemporary memories for an ill-advised safety car call, which robbed WTCC independent driver Franz Engstler of a possible victory in the most inauspicious of circumstances.

Speaking of that particular championship, RaceRoom does not have the 2009 season available, but 2013 is which includes Engstler’s (then turbocharged) BMW E90 with the distinctive Liqui Moly sponsorship.

There’s also a lineage to KW Studio’s Race 07 project (KW Studios formerly Sector3 Studios, formerly SimBin Studios – it’s all a bit complicated and for another time) which featured this venue nearly 17 years ago.

No pricing has been announced for this new representation of the venue, with recent additions typically around £4.25/€4.98. We also await an exact release date and confirmation if Pau will be the only new addition. Either way, RaceRoom’s content releases look to be back on track.

The last tire update made the game the best driving experience available imo but absolutely broke the AI which was one of the most satisfying ones before, especially with the adaptive feature. I would have liked KW Studio to communicate some information about this major issue, which literally makes the game unplayable for offline racing.

Announcing new paid content for a game in this state, without giving a date for an AI fix, is awkward and an absolutely bad idea. I haven't read RRE's forums lately there may be some information about the team progress on the fix (at least KWS had stated in the forum that some work had to be done on the AI).

If KWS wants to sell new content to get financial support, it should take strong commitment in fixing the AI and clearly communicate on it. I am not willing to buy any new content if I am not sure the game will be playable again.

Sure, there is still online racing, but most categories I like aren't played online and, as I did only one ranked race, I would have to go through these MX5 races and I have no time to waste with cars I'm not interested in. No fix, no RRE and no Pau buy. I hope the fix will come soon because Pau is a fun track for slow categories and I'd be glad to support KWS.

French circuits are always welcome and all too rare in simulations.
a short video of pau ville on RF2 to give those who don't know the layout a feel for it

Definitely a good track to have for TCs and potentially GTs and F3.

Wild to think GTS/GT1 cars used to run here, until 2005 or so.

Pau-Ville, Dijon-Prenois, and perhaps even Mas du Clos are tracks it would be nice to see get more love in sims.

I've bought just about every track and car, but sadly I won't be buying Pau or anything else until they can be bothered to update us on the AI.
Next to no updates on the official forum, they go on about 'everyone should be using Discord', but even on there they don't mention any work on the AI since the tyre update.

I am VERY disappointed in the devs for their lack of communication. It makes me think they already have something new in the pipeline and are just milking what they can out of R3E as it draws to the end of it's life.

At least it has one redeeming feature for me - it has been my favourite for leaderboard competitions/hotlapping, especially Nordschleife.

RRRE Devs, tell me I'm wrong, tell me it is still worth investing in? Hello? Is anyone there?

I hate Discord. It's like a throwback to the 1990's bulletin boards

I think i have Dijon in AC and RF2 and Mas du Clos, i think i have that in AC or RF2

I'm with you on that. We don't need more platforms, places like RD/Overtake have been doing dev interviews/stories and videos for many many years. I'm not interested in X or Discord etc. The dev has always been crap at updates, and then full-on when new DLC is going to land.

RRE (IMHO) has as also spent far too long creating updates to correct crap physics and features that should have been tested better before they charged us for the content.
