Assetto Corsa Console Update.jpg

Kunos Simulazioni have released a new Console Community Development blog for November, revealing much about the upcoming development plans for the console edition of the title, including news that the team are working on the long awaited private lobby functionality for console versions of the Assetto Corsa.

Received to somewhat mixed reviews on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Kunos have been hard at work behind the scenes bringing Assetto Corsa up to the level expected by console gamers, with much progress already completed on the core gaming engine behind the title. Now free of game breaking FPS issues and screen tearing problems that blighted the title on its initial release, Kunos have been quick out of the blocks to explain to fans what they can expect from the upcoming console build of the game.

Perhaps biggest news from this month's development update is the news that private lobby racing is being actively worked on by the studio as a priority development. Although no update has been given on when it will be added to the console version of the title, one suspects that work is well underway and players won't have to wait a huge amount of time before a feature that, lets be honest about this, should have been included in the original release, is added to the title.

You can read the statement in full below:

"Back in August, as many of you know already, Assetto Corsa arrived on console. For the team, this has been a massive challenge and a venture into the unknown, but a challenge they’ve embraced. Since then, our community has continued to flood our social channels with praise, support and constructive criticism. For that, we want to firstly thank you guys. We’re hugely grateful to have such an enthusiastic and passionate community on board who aren’t afraid to be totally open and honest with us! ;) We’ve said it many times now, but it really does mean everything to us!

Now, you’re probably curious as to what’s going on behind the scenes, so let us fill you in…

USE OF DLC ONLINE
Another major talking point across our community channels revolves around the use of DLC content online. We understand that many of you have been keen to use your content online and haven’t been able to so far. However, this is going to change in a future update. We’re pleased to announce that once private lobbies have been introduced to Assetto Corsa, you’ll then be able to use your DLC packs online!

For console players, the first Porsche pack is on its way and we’ll be announcing a launch date as soon as we can. Volume 1 introduces some of the most iconic Porsche cars ever created, coupled with some of the most recent models of the Porsche 2016 line-up, with the aim to offer a perfect mix between road cars, hypercars, as well as modern and historic GT and racing models. Wait... what? Xbox One's version is not even damn near of that, quite "interesting" to even try to claim something like that. And there's plenty of room in graphical quality too to improve.

The game is virtually unplayable on the Xbox One due to graphic issues. I did log a ticket with 505 Games, as suggested, and got only a boilerplate reply saying that "we are looking at the problem." AC is a great sim, but the console version is a hopeless disaster.

PS4 is pretty dire too sadly, the PC brigade will soon chip in and blame us somehow, but never blame kunos. Oh and the community blog gives us no time frames for anything, its just words, they had the chance to see where SMS went wrong, but then went ahead and repeated the same mistakes but made them even worse and then unlike SMS don't seem to want to fix them... bunch of fools.
Stehoano blames it all on console users not being ready for real 'sims' when in the recent past we've had DiRT, SLRE, PCars. Muppets.

So blame MS, blame Sony, blame the consumer with the console game, weaponise the PC nutters and followers of the cult Stephano and away you go.....

Even SMS worked out towards the end how to get updates outs on time, just send them to MS/Sony earlier.... shambles, utter shambles, not even sure anymore if the FFB/physics are as good as people rave about, the physics do weird things and the FFB is just fake and same for all cars pretty much. Horrible.
