Earlier today British development studio Codemasters confirmed DiRT Rally 2.0 will be heading to stores in February 2019.

Designed as a sequel to the highly regarded DiRT Rally of 2015, DiRT 2.0 will be the thirteenth entry into the franchise formally known as the Colin McRae Rally series of games. With the new release, Codemasters have promised this new title will be bigger, better and more authentic than the previous DR game, something that is sure to please fans left feeling cold at the more arcade orientated DiRT 4.

Little is known of the new title at this early stage, although judging from the reveal trailer it does look like plenty of work has been undertaken by the developers already, suggesting that much of the heavy lifting is already complete as we head into the final stages of fine tuning prior to release.

What we do know makes for interesting reading however. Seemingly keen to make more of the attractive World Rallycross licence present in the original DiRT Rally, Codemasters have confirmed the initial release of 2.0 will feature no less than eight official circuits of the 2018 WorldRX season “at launch”, suggesting that more locations could be added to the game as DLC at a later date.

With WRX well covered, Codemasters have also confirmed six traditional rally locations and a wide selection of iconic rally cars from the history of the sport.

According to the announcement statement from Codemasters, players who make use of the pre order options will have an array of different benefits and perks from which to choose from, as detailed below:

All pre-orders editions of DiRT Rally 2.0 will include access to the amazing Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec as a bonus vehicle to use on the stages. In addition there will also be a DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition which also includes the first two seasons of post-launch additional content, each with three locations (split between rally and rallycross) and five early vehicles unlocks (Ford Escort MkII, Lancia Stratos, Subaru Impreza 1995, AUDI Sport quattro S1 E2 and Ford Fiesta OMSE SuperCar Lite). The Deluxe Edition will also allow players to get their hands on the game four days early, launching on 22nd February 2019 and also includes upgraded starter cars for My Team, in-game bonuses and high reward events. More details about the seasons will be revealed soon.

BTW has anyone made some simple but functional handbrake with an old joystick or similar? Wondering what i can do. I just spent too much cash on new gear but i have an old joystick with a long handle... Wonder if that could be messed around with to make a decent, for now, handbrake.

The stage on the video looks very good, the car movements looks pretty spot on, but the sounds, the sound are awfull, hope it is because it's on alpha stage.
I hate really hate the DLC, some could never drive porche because they don't preorder?

Some info from the Steam store:

"• OVER 50 OF THE MOST POWERFUL OFF-ROAD CARS EVER BUILT – Tear through environments with an iconic roster of historic and modern-day rally cars, VW Polo GTI R5, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X & Citroen C3 R5. Also take on the challenging power of the Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R.

• 6 REAL LIFE RALLY LOCATIONS –Take the wheel through the stunning environments of New Zealand, Argentina, Spain, Poland, Australia and the USA.

• FEEL YOUR RACE – Improved handling, surfaces, fallibility and environments deliver the most authentic and focused off-road experience ever.

And the official blog said this about the deluxe edition and DLCs:

So confirmed at least 9 countries after the DLCs, and 11 WRX tracks. But the did say "First two seasons" as if there is going to be more seasons of DLCs.

(some of this info already appear in the thread, i know)

Why does the driver hold the handbrake? Don't they know that in these cars (Group B, early Group A) it served only for parking and stationing purposes?

If you are thinking of the driver "animation" with the right hand down around the gear/handbrake all the time, I would guess that is a WIP glitch.
Otherwise, the answer that has been given stands.

so hoping that my local track "Estering / Buxtehude" just south of Hamburg will be included in the rallyx material, that alone would merit the purchase, cannot beat a local yokel :)

YES! YES! And YES! That would be, the last of the classic RX tracks that's still used that needs to be included. (I would've loved some classic tracks like Valkenswaard, Duivelsberg, Lyngås, Sosnova etc.)

In theory, you can just bolt it on something, and assign the correct movement. That would be the cheap, slightly weird way, but it would work.

Camaro GT4.R?!? Why do they have to include such things. Why not Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lotus Exige or the Fiat 124 that actually have been used together with the Porsche?
Unless we are going totally early 2010's US rally with Ford Raptor and all that **** as well?

• THE OFFICIAL GAME OF THE FIA WORLD RALLYCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP – Race at Barcelona, Montalegre, Mettet, Lohéac Bretagne, Trois-Rivieres, Hell, Holjes and Silverstone in a multitude of different series.

No Estering @Eckhart von Glan :( Let's hope that's one of the minimum 2 tracks released later on.

• GET COMPETITIVE – Race the entire DiRT Community in Daily, Weekly and Monthly Challenges, with worldwide leaderboards and events."

Sounds like we are stuck with the "good" old racenet solution. Time to get coding @Neilski or @Michael Nelson .
No RDRX then...

Hmm, there might be 8 countries and 12 WRX tracks, or 10 WRX tracks and 10 countries in the end. I wonder what it will be.

I really wish for some proper tv-style replays like the ones RBR has. What they had in Dirt Rally was just terrible. No proper flow or immersion. Trackside and helicopter views please.

I doubt we'll get static trackside TV camera replays as a locked option, year on year Codies haven't listened or delivered on this. Despite most games having that option to select a camera type and watch the whole replay set to our own preferred options.

The issue is, you then get parts in your laps that cannot be shown in the replay footage because the camera switches and that moment is gone. Like that part in the above vid when the crowd shouts "whoooaaahhhh" as you hit the side, but that contact isn't clearly visible. Ironically, with TV cameras set to on, it would likely hold a more constant higher average framerate, as the engine isn't then forced to draw long views and smoke hanging in the road...

Watch it before it disappears. Warning for poor framerate.
This makes me a little more excited, although I can not really tell if the FFB or Physics are good...and if this is actual replay footage, at least CM have allowed more external viewing of your race instead of the constant view changes that personally annoyed me in DR...there maybe hope.

Thats comforting and i agree with Martin that this makes me way more excited than some pre-recorded snazzy trailers. We're too old for that crap. :D

However, please, oh god please make tarmac better than DR1. Im on my knees here, Codies!

Tarmac is a big step up from DR. Dont expect it to be competing with the big sealed surface Sims out there, but it is much more enjoyable than before. FFB is nice and tight, and gone are the weird central pivot feeling that plagued both DR and D4 on tarmac.

Believe me, we have pestered the devs about this during testing. We want better replays and roadside cameras.

Looks pretty good so far. Why do they keep messing with the audio for cars though? Never heard some of those sounds coming from the Quattro.

I hope that RWD are more of a handful this time around. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was pretty good in DR, but some of them seemed kinda tame to drive. The Escort Mk2 being one example.

I also wonder about replays. Will we have small replay/demo files where we can watch replays whenever we want? Having a small replay file is great if you want to use different setting to record, than what you'd play with. It can also be used as an anticheat and be automatically uploaded for the top5-10 on leaderboards. Are there enough proper tv/spec cams on stages? And did they get rid of all the odd (rear facing) cameras?

It seems like 2017- rally cars are not included, but again R5 is top tier in modern rally cars. They can't get the license to use WRC cars, but why not use fictional/semi-fictional WRC cars? Surely a lot better than having nothing
