Homebuilt Compact F1 Rig

8020 and MDF on this one. Molded seat again. This time i wanted to make a design that allowed me to change the F1 team (or Indy team) theme by just changing a few placards on the rig in a few minutes. Made this one for pretty cheap. Small, compact, fully adjustable and very rigid. Still need to wrap the wood in carbon fiber vinyl and cover the seat with fabric.

That looks awesome for a DIY project. You could commercialize it for a fraction of what the Playseat F1 cost.

At some point, if there is interest and I don't get too lazy, I'll throw together some plans and a parts list. Its about $230 worth of 8020 stuff, some nuts and bolts, a few 2'x2' sheets of MDF, and about $70 worth of expandable foam. Total was probably about $400-ish.

For anyone interested in molding their own F1 seat, here are some pics showing the basic progression. Its more comfortable than the best universal racing seat money can buy.
