when someone criticizes them
I wasn't criticizing them. We were all slow when we started. If i tell someone that he is slow, that doesn't mean i'm either insulting them or criticizing them. Those are just the facts and then i try to give advices to improve and i've always answered on threads where people ask for help.
I just believe RD should focus a bit more on quality and do what they can to improve it. If you watch the league that you've just won, you can see that the driving standard is too low for it to be called league. This community should work more on improving with guides, threads about technique, driving style, setups, incidents (even those...). At the moment incidents are tabou, while they should actually be one of the main topics on a simracing forum. How can people learn if there are no examples on the forum?
Just think how you learned to race, your entire simracing career. I don't know you, but i learnt most of the stuff i know from other sources, simply because RD doesn't have them and no one talks about them.
Imho, racedepartment should change its focus and the main topic should be the driving, not hardware issues, software issues, mods...Not that they shouldn't talk about those things, but they should be subsections of the forum and not the main topic.
I don't know if i explained myself clearly but i believe this community would be way better if we all focused a bit more on improving the quality of the races we have here.

No offense, but RD is not for elitists. The clubs are specifically designed for people to drop in for friendly, relaxed racing as and when they have the time. They don't need to know anything about driving techniques, race craft or setups. Half the people racing simply don't have the time or inclination to spend hours trawling though forums and guides, or spending hours on track learning the finer points of driving. They just want to be able to show up and have some fun, and that's exactly what the clubs are for.

I'm not sure which clubs you drive in on RD, but there is nothing wrong with the quality in the two I manage. I know for a fact that those that do want help most certainly get it. There are always TS discussions going on about technique and setups, and if help is asked for in the race threads people are always quick to respond. 99% of the people entering the events come away having had good fun so I think we must be doing something right, even if our standards don't meet your apparently sky high expectations.

As for incidents, they are not discussed on the forums for very good reasons. Number one would be that they cause finger-pointing and arguments. I mean, if two guys get heated just talking about a difference of opinion in whether setups are worthwhile, then what do you think happens when they discuss a race-ruining incident? Chaos and flame wars.

In short, RD is built around fun, casual racing for the majority, not just those with an abundance of time skill.

Now, can we please keep this thread on topic? :)
