Short guide for skinning windows in GIMP

Here's how I skin windows in GIMP
  1. Open the .psd template in GIMP. The template should be without any logos/text on the windows themselves.
  2. Click Image>"Merge Visible Layers". Select "Clipped to Bottom Layer" and check "Discard invisible Layers"
  3. Now you should only have one layer.
  4. Right-click the layer and click "Add Layer Mask". In the window that pops up click "Channel" and select "Alpha 1"
  5. You should now see a checkerboard in the windows, showing that the transparency works.
  6. Right-click the layer and click "Apply Layer Mask" to merge the main layer and the layer mask.
  7. The template is now ready. You can add new layers now to put logos/texts on top of the windows. Use the slider bar for Opacity to change the layer transparency for the logos/texts.
  8. Job done
  9. Export as BC3/DXT5
