In its latest newsletter, Straight4 Studios has announced it is working with Sim Racing System’s creator to rival the iRacing online platform with GTRevival. Mont Tremblant also teased.

GTRevival increasingly intrigues sim racers. Under development by Straight4 Studios and helmed by Ian Bell, the title is set for a private beta release at the end of this year.

Very little is known about the game, other than Bell’s motivation to satisfy the desire of racing fans and the inclusion of the Lister Storm as well as Sebring and Lime Rock Park. Previously, in a chat with the company’s CEO Ian Bell, we learnt that the team is focussing on single player modes with this title. But in a recent newsletter, it seems GTRevival is also looking to challenge the online might of iRacing.

GTRevival Online Racing Platform

As part of the September newsletter, Straight4 announces that it is working with Henrique Alves, the man behind Sim Racing System, in order to create the game’s online racing platform. Akin to Low Fuel Motorsport, SRS provides Assetto Corsa players with regularly scheduled online races. It seems the same formula will appear in GTRevival.

In the newsletter, Alves mentions that GTRevival will offer a “competitive system” adding to racers’ virtual careers. He goes on to mention his hope of providing fans with a “solid alternative to the current leader in the sector.” Clearly focusing on iRacing, the title may have a challenge on its hands, with the likes of Low Fuel Motorsport and more recently, rFactor 2 setting up its own online system.

Mont Tremblant on its way?

As aforementioned, GTRevival already has a trio of confirmed tracks. Interlagos, a circuit often seen in development screenshots will join Sebring and Lime Rock Park. But in this most recent blog post, the developers also mention a photography mission to Mont Tremblant.

Situated in Canada, this was a popular racing venue throughout the Can-Am days. It featured a raw layout, winding through the valley, much like Brand Hatch. However, in more recent times, it has fallen off the map, hosting very few major series.

Whilst not officially confirmed for the game, it does appear that Mont Tremblant may be on the studio’s wishlist. Ian Bell is currently holding a competition allowing his followers to guess 10 circuits featuring in the game at launch. The person that guesses all 10 correctly before the end of October will win a Project CARS box print. If no announcement is made earlier, perhaps Bell will confirm this unique Canadian circuit at the end of the month.

depicting realistic motorsport in competition is only possible more realistic online in MP with serious drivers and not offline against an AI, until AI technology advances far enough.
Not your opinion, but I fixed it nonetheless :D

ah yes... another sim promising the world, just like rennsport does

you guys must be mega gullible to believe anything from an Ian Bell company

also regarding SP vs MP... SP is where beta males race because they are scared of competing against other humans, real competitive men and women compete online

Man, I'm just happy you are behind a computer wheel and not in a real track... Some of us do this for fun, not because they feel like they need to prove their masculinity...

why not prove feminity ? it's better to say "to prove their identity", it's less sexist

When one refers to 'beta males' it is about masculinity... Even if there are feminine males and masculine females this had nothing to do with sexism. It was just put in the context of the original message.
I hope I get to be a beta male ... it looks like newsletter subscribers could get a chance to play GTRevival early, the Beta version.

As for playing against humans, nah, it ain't my bag, but, those that big themselves up by calling others chicken need to prove something for an undisclosed reason, so yeah, stop away from them.

It´s sad that some companies just take a look racing games like a product to sell without any soul, and they cannot understand that something made with love, dedication and performance could give more money than a game without soul, and made to play first month and abandoned in 3 month later. That´s the case of Wrc Generations, they had 11 WRC Games to improve and get better on every new version, but true is last game "WRC Generations" was born without any soul, classic cars was more grip than a F1, and make your club and search on the net was a hard nightmare. I love racing games, but they no need to be a hard experience, just feel a great ffb and feel we are driving a car, not a donkey on ice, and if u don´t know how is the real, get a real racing driver or make like Kunos and drive some of them.
Still a lot of things forgotten in racing games, like a system damage (love wreckfest system) safety car, Full course yellow, tyre puncture (only present on ACC) and mechanical failures

Usually they end their races at T1 trying to prove they are like Senna.

Some sim titles have safety cars, FCY, mechanical failures and even tire damage. Just need to look around. It is possible to have them

That’s what VR users like to think, that they are majority. But realistically most run wide monitors or multiscreen setups
I am a VR user, driving in VR 95% of the time, but I know I am not the majority, majority drive looking at a screen.
While not a majority, I believe, the proportion of player using VR as their preferred method is now big enough, that it is preferable for any game developer not to ignore VR anymore. Also believe that the number is growing, making VR more and more a must rather than an option to add to a game for developers.
Among the majority playing on screen, I do not know what percentage use wide screen or triples, but still in 2023, I think any game with SIM aspiration should provide a good solution for all those users feeling better immersion in VR, wide screen or triples.

In this day and age of technology I'd like to see oil and other fluid spills after accidents and retirements, where not just the player but the AI could also come a cropper, that way we could have a use for the safety car.

I'm not talking about one game, i suppossed F1 2023 have fcy and SC, i'm telling about a "must have" in all Racing games. ACC counts with tyre puncture or engine blown but not in all games u could see It.

Whether it is the author of this creating a clickbait title or whether Ian and his team said it, it just isn't a clever thing to say at this stage because once again the hype is set to 11 and at release most new games are lucky to be a 5. Iracing MP is the most well established mp experience out there so you are just asking for criticism by making such statements, especially given Ian's history.

Yes, have a goal to create a fantastic MP experience, but keep Will Smith's wifes name (iracing) out ya mouth at least until you have something real to show. I am not an iracer fyi.

You don't know what they have, your imagination is driving your post, their work is driving theirs.
common sense says "just wait and see" it'll be Christmas soon and we'll get to open our presents then.
