First U.S. front wheel drive car since the Cords of the 1930s--to which some details pay homage: sleek and flowing proportions, pop up headlights, restrained use of chrome. If I recall correctly, the speedometer was a rolling drum type. Confirmed--thank you Ebay:

Timeless cool from the golden age of GM when divisional engineers were allowed to innovate!

Today's car designers should look to this achingly beautiful rolling sculpture.

John Lennon's 1964 Rolls Royce Phantom V. Painted and detailed to his specs, car features, among other things, a rear seat that converts to a double bed, and a full stereo with "floating" record player, cassette deck, and TV, a mobile phone, and a refrigerator in the trunk. It was also one of the first British cars with tinted windows. Weighs 2.6 tons, with a 3.5 meter wheelbase, powered by the stock 6.2L V8. Price around £11000. Car was chauffeur driven since Lennon did not get a driver's license til a year or so later. He used the car til around 1969, shipped it to the US when he moved to New York but apparently it saw little use. In 1977 he donated it to the Smithsonian for a tax offset, about ten years later they sold it to a private collector for around $2.2mil, a few years later it was donated to a museum in British Columbia.
