World's first production V-16 auto engine was in the 1930 Cadillac. This is the 1938 Series 90 V-16 Fleetwood convertible, only 315 built.

431ci, 185hp, 300ft/lbs torque at idle, 320ft/lb at 1400rpm, pushed the car to over 100mph; 3-spd manual gearbox, but torque was such you could leave it in high gear and drive it like an automatic

The engine never recovered its development and production costs but Cadillac produced the cars for eight years as a status product. Less than 4000 were made.
