Sorry Chubby-Alfie I like old cars too but it's now 2018 you know... we can't stay forever in 1950s.
Ortherwise F1 won't be a pinnacle of latest technology but just a mere Tribute to those times when it all started series. I hope you'll agree after all.

Progress is not always about complicating things with mess of "easy fixes".

The cars simplified so much between those years not because of natural progress but because the rules changed and banned all those complicated aero pieces. Even with all the progress in the last 9 years, I'm sure the teams would still love to add some of those winglets on the 2018 cars if they could!

Hence the 2018 Ferrari's multi-element "mid wings" around the side intakes and mirrors that pass through and appear to direct it down towards the sidepods. Now that is certainly complicating things!
